Walking Trails

The Doghide River Trail is a scenic route built along the Doghide River as part of the arts development in town.  In development since 1989, the system of all-weather walking/cycling/skiing trails along the Doghide River within the Town of Tisdale has grown to over two kilometres, crossing the river twice.

The trail system is incorporated into the wooded area of the Kinsmen McKay Park and runs along several sections of the riverbank.  The trail features a natural wetland with trout pond and a boardwalk and observation deck, a beautiful wooden gazebo, and a large passive park.

Tisdale Wildlife Federation developed the Jones Wildlife Sanctuary for people to observe wildlife and learn about wildlife species and their habitat.

This project received a Canadian Wildlife Federation national award because it combines woodlot, marsh, and surrounding farmland into its conservation strategy, making it very unique in Canada.  The sanctuary features self-guided nature trails and is well suited for avid birdwatchers.

The Land of Rape and Honey
Tisdale and surrounding region is the centre of production for rapeseed (also known as canola) and honey
